|Notices 2 April 2020
What a great rehearsal we had on the 2nd! At one point there were 20 of us online. Kat did an amazing job with the tech side. We had a great paper plates warm up and vocal warm ups. Zoom was better than the facebook rehearsal, but there were still some issues with video lag.
Link to rehearsal space is coming - keep an eye out for it
The theme is Easter! (Think bonnets and bunnies)
Songs this week: Oh Look at me Now
After rehearsal – if you can hang about for a chat in the rehearsal space that will be lovely
Update from Sweet Adelines International
Sweet Adelines International is trying to support members and in a recent email (on 1 April) the President Patty Cobb Baker discusses policy changes reagarding financial aspects of memberships (members, quartets and choruses), educational offerings and consideration of international convention. The international organisation and Sweet Ads Australia are working hard to find new ways to bring the purpose and values of Sweet Adelines to members.
CHC membership - dues
The COVID19 pandemic has brought around so many changes to education, social and financial aspects of our lives. At Management Committee we talked about the impact this could have on members – and about the dues that we pay and how it might be hard to make ends meet. We don’t want money to be the reason that you stop coming to rehearsal. If your finances have taken a hit, and you want to talk options regarding the chorus dues, please talk to someone (Pam, Kate, finance coordinator, section leaders are all good people to talk to about this). Because there are options and we can work it out.
The AGM will still be held on 30 April. The notice of the AGM meeting will be coming out soon. Please mark it in your calendar and watch out for more information that should come out over the easter weekend. We are still seeking people interested in taking on the Marketing Role and Gig Getter (or coordinator) role.
Following the AGM will be a special social BYO supper night. Bring your wine, cheese, chocolate or cake to the screen with you. We might work out how to use those funny filters on our faces. Or have a limerick competition! Or we can have a dress up night. Let’s make it funny and social and laugh and be together.
Call for volunteer to set up phone roster
It would be good to set up a phone roster so that every person makes a call and every person gets a call during the week. If you would like to organise this please get in touch!
Concerns were raised about the privacy issues using Zoom that have been raised in the media. We can increase the privacy settings by using a password for the rehearsal. Zoom have also changed the privacy settings to close some loopholes with data being shared with third parties. If you have experience with another platform that is more secure, that provides video conferencing with multiple rooms, chat and recording facilities please pass the information on to Management Committee.
Follow up with Steve Scott
Pam had a follow up conversation with Steve Scott – and it was recorded and Pam is going to share it with us. They talked about Oh! Look at me now and how we are going to be working toward performing that. Steve has been such a huge supporter of CHC and it is great that he can work with Pam and the chorus this year as well.
The badges have arrived and are lovely! Jenny W will hang onto them for you.
